Termite Issues? Not to Worry.

Pubished On: April 19, 2019

When we think of Arizona pests, we often think of spiders, scorpions, and roaches. Maybe even rodents. But termites? They’re usually at the bottom of the hair-raising list of creepy crawlers. Make no mistake, though. These tiny little vermin can wreak havoc on your home, as well as your bank account. By the time termite damage is evident, it’s often too late. Prevention is key, and luckily for Phoenix, AZ residents, we have over 20 years of termite experience and know how to prevent (or pulverize) these little home-wrecking creeps.

Termite problems? We’re sorry to hear that. We can help. Schedule an appointment today.

Types of Termites

There are multiple kinds of species of Arizona termites. These would include *Drywood Termites, *Dampwood Termites, and the most common, *Arid-Land Subterranean Termites.

Subterranean Termites like to dwell in the earth and will migrate to a wood source near the ground or foundation of your home. Arizona monsoon season (July to Sep) is a popular time for Subterranean Termites, however, swarms will also occur in elevations under 4,000 feet between the months of January and March.

“Termites are serious business, so being proactive is your best bet.”

Termite Prevention

While termite prevention can be tricky, and even tedious, it’s minuscule when compared to a termite infestation. Because of the substantial damage termites can inflict on your home, prevention needs to be your first line of defense. Termites love moisture, they love damp soil, they love wood, and they really love damp wood!

By reducing clutter around the home, preventing moist soil, and airing out damp attics and basements, you’ll greatly reduce your chances of attracting termites.

  • Remove wood from around your home
  • Repair leaky garden hoses
  • Check AC unit for leaking water
  • Correct any irrigation issues
  • Prevent shrubs and bushes from touching home
  • Check for moisture in attics and basements
